At our AGM we elected four new Vice-Presidents, who join our illustrious consortium of musicians and composers who are all excellent in their field but also act with a social conscience

Fellow Vice-President Arash Yazdani had this to say about @raymond.deane.5

"Few composers of contemporary music reach the level of influence and excellence as Raymond Deane has achieved. ...

A published author and an outspoken defender of working class, socialism and human rights, Mr. Deane as prolific today as ever. With his unwavering passion and his steadfastness for a just cause, I am of the conviction that Raymond will be an active and instrumental member of the association. The esteemed Workers Music Association will find no better advocate than Mr. Deane.”

Raymond had this to say about being elected "I am very pleased to be a vice president of the WMA, particularly given the calibre of so many of my predecessors: Michael Tippett, Hanns Eisler, Paul Robeson, Ewan McColl... While for me music does not have to be explicitly political in content, it always emerges from and is apprehended in a political context. The political background of the WMA is very congenial to me."
